Question about testing and hunger

I have a question about timing of eating and testing. Since we are
supposed to test 2 hours after meals, what happens if you eat and then
not much later are still hungry and want to have a little more? Tonight
I had a bowl of homemade chicken soup for dinner. It's an hour later and
I am ravenous. Should I go ahead and eat something and then test 2 hours
after that, or wait until I've tested 2 hours after the soup?

Thanks, Ethel

It's important when you eat meals to make sure they're real meals, including veggies and maybe a small piece of fruit for dessert, that will keep the hungries away for a while. Usually.

Test all you want! Nothing is written in the Diabetes Book of Life that says you can only test at certain times. If you want to know what your glucose is doing, test. I've tested 10 times a day in the past, off and on, especially during an illness. You have to test the number of times you need to test, and by all means, don't go by how you "feel".

Sometimes feeling ravenous means your blood sugar is kind of high. Test! Then you'll know. If it is high, and you really really want to eat something, drink a big glass of some non-caloric beverage, eat a salad, munch on some celery and carrot sticks. Or have more soup-- it's up to you. But do test around it as appropriate.
