INSULIN BURNING

I have a question to see if any of you have this problem when you inject your insulin that it burns sometimes?
I am not sure if its my lantus pen i dont always feel this burning this started when i started this new pen and not sure if i should just start a new pen or what?
Thanks for your replys on this issue.FC
I get burning if I inject too close to a recently-used spot. Make sure to rotate injection sites, but on top of that, you can take a couple of fingers and feel all around where you're about to inject, and choose a place that's not already sore-- I know that sounds like first grade stuff, but it works! Also, Lantus is slightly acidic, so a bit of burning is almost to be expected. If it hurts like the devil, though, that's usually because of injecting near a recently used site-- in my experience.~BK~

Do you keep the Lantus pen in the refrigerator? Injecting cold insulin will cause a burning sensation. Take the pen out of the refrigerator 20 or 30 minutes before you inject to allow the insulin to warm up to room temperature. That will eliminate the burning sensation from cold insulin.
If you do refrigerate the insulin pen that you are currently using, you should also know that all the insulin pen manufacturers recommend not doing that. A Sanofi Aventis rep told me that is because an insulin pen user might inadvertently refrigerate a pen with a needle still attached. That would allow bacteria and other little things floating around inside the refrigerator to enter the pen through the needle and contaminate the insulin.
So, insulin pen users, be sure to remove the needle from the pen immediately after injecting.
